Blepharochalasis

Blepharochalasis is an ophthalmic term involving the eyelids, ocular surface, retina, optic pathway or a finding relevant to visual function.
Presentation may include redness, pain, discharge, double vision, visual-field change or loss of visual acuity depending on the structure affected.
Slit-lamp examination, fundoscopy, visual testing, ocular imaging or microbiologic studies may be needed to establish the cause.
Treatment is matched to pathology and can include topical therapy, systemic medication, optical correction, laser treatment or ophthalmic surgery.
Prompt assessment of sudden or progressive visual symptoms associated with blepharochalasis helps reduce the risk of avoidable permanent visual impairment.
