Bullous Disease

Bullous Disease describes a dermatologic or wound-care finding involving the skin, subcutaneous tissue or the body's response to tissue injury.
Appearance, distribution, depth, tenderness, blistering, drainage and surrounding inflammation provide important clues to the underlying process.
Clinical inspection may be supplemented by dermoscopy, swab or tissue culture, biopsy, vascular assessment or imaging when deeper involvement is suspected.
Care can include local wound treatment, dressings, topical or systemic medication, debridement, infection control and reconstructive procedures.
Scarring, infection and loss of function are key concerns when bullous disease represents extensive or deep tissue injury.
